Our karate “style” was originally developed from various martial arts by the “Father of Modern Karate,” Gichin Funakoshi. This art was brought to Japan in the earlier twentieth century and further modernized after it was incorporated into both public and private schools/dojos, in Japan.
Karate teaches self-defense. With proper Karate training, people develop patience, improve their general well-being, improve their concentration, and develop as a human being. Proper karate training helps folks to improve their own self-discipline. This is very beneficial for people of all ages, especially children.
California Karate Association, under the active guidance of Master Fujishima, provides very high-quality instruction in Shotokan Karate-Do. Master Fujishima began his karate training in 1956 and continues to this day, benefiting all of our students and dojo members.
